Repurpose//Rebuild

Repurpose//Rebuild was a multidisciplinary art exhibition and series of events showcasing the work of local artists, designers and featuring performances from local musicians and poets.

The exhibition is in aid of the charity ‘Friends of St Michaels’ -an education and welfare focused charity that fund building projects for disadvantaged communities in Uganda.

My submission to the exhibition was a combination of re-traced drawings, cut-out forms and negative space complete the series of work through the act of repurposing and rebuilding; a gesture to the work that Friends of St. Michaels does in Uganda.

The duo of work follows a process of combining the old with the new, contrasting mediums and processes, and repeating imagery that connects the two together. Through drawings and prints, I have built up a collage of works that refers to re-using and recycling my available resources and re-establish the creative process of unfinished works into a completed image.
